ENDO-BARIATRIC PROCEDURES

Dr. Chiasson believes that the newly evolving field of Endo-Bariatrics is poised to play a significant role in the management of obesity.  According to a recent article in The New England Journal of Medicine article, 50% of American adults will have Class I obesity – defined as being more than 50 lbs overweight by the year 2030. Endo-Bariatric procedures may help to bridge the treatment gap for individuals who are fearful of invasive bariatric surgery.

In 2020, The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) published recommendations for the use of Endoscopic Bariatric Therapies in order to provide guidance for this evolving field.
