Patrick Chiasson, MD, MA, FACS, is recognized as a leading Tucson Bariatric Surgeon in Arizona for his minimally-invasive Weight Loss and Hiatal Hernia / LINX Surgery practice. He has long been acknowledged by the surgical community and industry for his early adoption of both new techniques and technology. His practice is located at the Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.

Patrick Chiasson, MD, MA, FACS, is a Canadian-trained Minimally Invasive Bariatric and Foregut Surgeon.  He has been certified by both the Royal College of Surgeons in Canada and the American Board of Surgery in the United States.  He received his medical education at McGill University in Montreal, PQ, a Master’s degree from the Institute for the History of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and his general surgical training at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. Finally, he completed his sub-specialty training in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the University of Toronto’s highly regarded Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery.  He has numerous publications to his credit that address such issues as Minimally Invasive Surgery techniques and outcomes, Health Policy, Medical Ethics, and Health Law.

In addition to his surgical practice, he now serves as an Educational Consultant for Ethicon Endo-surgery for both Bariatric Surgery and LINX surgery, teaching surgeons from around the country to perform the new procedures.  He is a past president of the AZ chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Chiasson strongly believes that foregut and bariatric surgery will continue to evolve with the development of new techniques and new technology with the goal of greatly reducing or eliminating the trauma related to surgery.  It is his hope that patients come away from their surgical experience feeling that they have received “cutting-edge” surgical care within the context of a compassionate, patient-focused surgical practice.
